The Anthropology Program at George Mason University currently includes an undergraduate major (BA) and minor, as well as a 2-year master’s program (MA). I am happy to consider advising students or postdocs with strong interests in or adjacent to one or more the following areas. I am especially interested in students or postdocs who seek to engage in biocultural research by merging critical analyses of power with genomics.
Human genomics and epigenomics as applied to regional histories and peoples of the Americas during the colonial period.
Paleogenomics and bioarchaeology related to early urbanism, imperialism, and colonialism in the Americas.
Queer, Feminist, and Indigenous Science and Technology Studies; Queer Ecologies; Embodiment; DOHaD.
Anthropology and History of Science, especially regarding the development and practice of North American Biological Anthropology.
Critical and disruptive models of genome research; data sovereignties.
Commercial genetic ancestry technologies and their relationship to questions of identity, belonging, and cultural heritage, especially with regard to Indigenous peoples and the problem of settler self-Indigenization.
